Today, the diplomatic and consular corps was invited by the Prefect of Milan, Claudio Sgaraglia, to a grand reception celebrating the 80th anniversary of Italian Republic Day.

In an era marked by profound transformations and new global challenges, this anniversary takes on an even deeper meaning. The Republic embodies the fundamental values ​​of freedom, democratic participation, the rule of law, and respect for institutions. These principles were reaffirmed today by Italy’s highest state authorities, who emphasized that democracy is not an achievement to be taken for granted, but a precious heritage to be safeguarded and strengthened every day through dialogue, responsibility, and cooperation among nations.

It was also a great honor to share these celebrations with some of my dear friends and fellow consuls, on a day dedicated to friendship, diplomacy, and international cooperation, inspired by the values ​​that unite our nations.
